I would suggest two options: an intrauterine device (IUD) or a diaphragm. An IUD is a soft, removable implant that goes inside the uterus to prevent pregnancies. A diaphram is a physical barrier that goes over the uterus to achieve the same goal.
You can read more about them (including the risks and benefits of each) on their wiki pages. But neither of them should affect hormones at all, which is a benefit over birth control pills. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intrauterine_device en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diaphragm_(contrac...).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
