Need a filter system to remove metal shavings. Low $$$ I have customer, that assembles brake system components, and is testing these components under pressure, for leaks. They are looking for a simple, low cost filtration process, to remove and debris or metal shavings, and allow them to reuse the brake fluid.
The fluid is clear after each test, but could contain metal partials. Do you know of a simple, filtered system, that they could recycle this clear brake fluid through, and allow them to reduce their fluid use? They would have up to 2 - 3 gallons of fluid to filter per week.
Thank you for any ideas. Tim Asked by seeburgtim 35 months ago Similar questions: ideas filtering light brake fluid filter system remove metal shavings Low $$$ Science.

Lotsa choices Filtering hydraulic fluid is a thriving technology. I seem to recall one of the complaints abot the F-4 Phantom fighter is that it had twenty-five different styles and sizes of hydraulic fluid filters. Look in the Grainger catalog, they should have quite a selection.
Yep, 208 hydraulic filters. Just put one of these on their plumbing and they're all set. BTW they might first run this idea by their insurance company.
The cost of brake fluid is very low, but the potential liability is in the millions. Filtering is going to remove small particles, but not any contamination with oil or water or absorbed moisture. Might be safer to just use clean fluid and not risk anything.
Nobody wants any more 737's to go down due to hydraulic problems.
2 A problem with brake fluid is that it absorbs water from humidity in the air. In a vehicle this causes sponginess. When testing for leaks that may not be a problem but should be taken into consideration.

3 Yeah, coffee filters, since it is a small amount and doesn't need to be filtered quicly.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
