Thats a hard one, just get a good warranty with it teenagers will be hard on it,my brother inlaws 14 year old killed a Toshiba Satalite in a year,my wife and I have a 5 year old Acer 3610 that is still going strong.
Personally I like Asus, and Acer, but it just adults using them no kids,I really don't know how eithedr would stand up to kids pounding on them.
Funny, you mention the laptop is for your son for school, but say game playing and music! $800 - $1000 is what I consider midrange for this topic. Try Dell, Sony and HP.
All solid and standard support. Might consider upgraded coverage as teens will spill soda, beat, and drop a laptop… often. The only change I might consider from a standard setup is a better video card, and more RAM.
Hope this helps. Com/Toshiba-Satellite-L675-S7048-17-3-Inch-Laptop/dp/B0041LW980/ref=sr_1_4? S=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1289879891&sr=1-4.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
