Some stores around here have already had them up for weeks! I remember when they used to go up Thanksgiving weekend to kick off the shopping frenzy. Now they're starting not only before Thanksgiving (which has been going on for years), but even before Halloween!
I think 3 months is a bit lengthy for the Christmas season. Thoughts? Asked by ListerD 51 months ago Similar questions: annoyed early Christmas decorations Society > Holidays.

Oh! I can't stand that! I really wish the Christmas stuff would not be put up until after Thanksgiving.
Stores do this because they think it lengthens the shopping season. And spreads the season over a longer time. By getting people into the stores earlier it reduces the amount of stuff they have to stock right before the holiday, it spreads revenues over a longer time, an it may reduce the number of short term temp workers needed during the holiday rush, it also reduces the need for paying regular workers overtime.
These are understandable concerns for stores. I still dislike having Christmas decorations up before Halloween. I think that all holidays are overly commercialized.
But, the truth is that even back in the time of the ancient Egyptians and Greeks, holidays and festivals were major economic events. When Paul tried to convert some Greek cities to Christianity, he was nearly stoned several time and fears that he would cost them money were evident. About the only way to combat this is to stop using Christmas as an excuse for a spending orgy.
The three wise men did not give gifts to each other. They gave gifts to a poor child who was staying in an animal shelter. Maybe we should follow that example and use the holiday to set up a regular donation plan for a favorite charity.

Yes! I belong to that really small group of people who believe that they should not go up until after Thanksgiving. I saw some in stores at the end of August this year.
I was dumbfounded (mostly thinking, wait, don't we have Halloween first? ). I wish they could be scaled back to their proper season, but I also know they are huge moneymakers, so it'll never happen.
But I do get annoyed by it.
ABSOLUTELY! I can remember when it seemed like forever until the stores had their Christmas stuff out and it just seemed to build the excitement even more when you had to wait! Now we barely make it through the back to school, early fall season and BAM!
There it is! I enjoy all the holidays, I have 2 kids one 13 and the other is 4 and it just seems to make things worse on the little ones who get so excited about Christmas! It's hard enough to remind my children that it's not really about th presents, in our house it's definitely about the reason for the season, but at this age (the 4 yr old), it still translates into the presents and Santa Claus.
Every single time we go in a store now he asks to look at Christmas items. I tell him to wait, we'll start looking at them in late November. I remember just enjoying Christmas music and the decorations, but now, by the end of November if I have to hear Nat King Cole or the Carpenters singing any Christmas songs I usually want to go hide under the bed!
I thought I was the only one out there that thought this was absurd! .
I like Christmas but... I think we lose some of the Christmas magic when stuff comes out to early. And Christmas stuff next to Halloween stuff just makes both look tacky. I would much rather see Christmas stuff only go up a week or two before Thanksgiving (so those who decorate over Thanksgiving can pick up whatever they need).
I certainly won't be buying any Christmas things before then.
Ugh! Yup, I'm right there with you. I worked in a mall for a few years and hated that we started getting Christmas items in September.
The Kaufmann's store (now Macy's) across from us started putting up their decorations mid-October and my store was required to put them up the day after Halloween. It was like Thanksgiving didn't even exist. Because of this, I won't put up my Christmas decorations until the day after Thanksgiving..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
