Yahoo has been having glitches, I have noticed that, I use a program that logs me in automatically and even it was having trouble at times.
You can get on the forums at Garmin or runnersworld.com for more thorough answers. The more recent 220/620 Forerunners are known to have decreased accuracy compared to prior units. People commonly complain about the route being a bit off on the map.
Don't expect it to be perfect, because there's still a margin of error with satellite signals from far away. But... the smaller lighter devices do have decreased accuracy compared to other units. They are more sensitive than usual to things like tall buildings and tree cover as well.
Mapping your route on mapmyrun will be less accurate than your device. Your difference would be about 300 feet anyway. Map my run measures the middle of the road.
Your device measures you, and you're going to be running the tightest route possible most of the time. Similarly, road races are measured on the shortest possible route, and you're not going to run it. You should expect the device to average 1% longer, because that's what you really truly run.
(So for example, your 3.1 mile 5k may actually read as 3.4 miles every time). All GPS devices can have issues cutting corners on a track. They're not really designed for running on constant curves like that.
You can turn on every second recording to improve accuracy, but the device's battery will drain faster, and memory will fill faster. Anyway, all issues you're asking about have come up with literally thousands of people before you. Look for prior answers here, or better yet get on the Garmin or Runner's World boards.
These are the standard questions asked by everyone new to a GPS unit, and/or to the 220/620 specifically. (And by the way, don't expect any 220/620 software update to fix everything. There may be improvement if you're not on the latest version, but that's it.).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
