The public cannot see them. YOU (as sender of message) can. It shows when you do a search and there's a match for that word.
I know, thats confusing- that's something I'd like to see fixed as well, but understand WHY it is the way it is.. Try this- log out (upper right corner) and search for it using the mahalo search box.. If you cannot see when logged out no one else can either.

A while ago I was watching TV in somebody else's house with a bunch of people there, and there was a scene from a movie in which Tom Waits and Iggy Pop appeared. Within comics and cartooning, Jay Stephens can draw in people from outside our little incrowd. I've seen his name doing the rounds in blogs after he launched his site here.
Ursula Vernon is a popular webcartoonist and well known in the anthro art community. Tom Hart is a big-name alt. Cartoonist, as is James Kochalka (but James isn't seen as being part of WCN, I think).
None of these people are in Charles Schulz land. But they're up the tail compared to you and me, and capable of drawing in people from other niches.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
