HI @jasoncalacanis, It would be great to see some Mahalo apps in the future for the iPhone and iPad. While I don't have any personal references to give you for iOS developers in LA, I did track down some interesting information that might provide you with some good leads. You may be aware that Apple is just about ready, according to many reports, to release a new version of the iOS operating system.
Importantly, this new software release - iOS 4.2 - brings iPhone and iPad onto the same platform. There are a number of other new features and also new developer guidelines that open up the once stringent parameters for creating an Apple app. Although not publicly announced, more than one source I found pointed to an Apple iOS developer summit being hosted right about now (this week), in California.
During these kinds of events, developers from all around have the opportunity to bounce ideas around with Apple engineers. So, here's a thought. Any participants from the LA area or California could be great candidates.
Apple app developers with experience from the most recent iOS event might be the right new team members for Mahalo. Aloha.
If you ever need someone to do this remotely, I know a great iPad/iPhone developer in the Tampa, FL area. I know it doesn't match your current location requirements, but I thought I'd throw it out there--good luck!
I just bumped into your posting. I don't know if you still need someone for this. I am in LA on the West Side.
I mostly do my own apps but occasionally help some clients with theirs (mostly referrals from Anthem Venture Partners, Clearstone and others). As far as my apps go, I just released Lifelike Clock Pro in the app store: itunes.apple.com/us/app/lifelike-clock-p... The iPad version of this app (Lifelike Alarm Clock and Weather HD) was an Apple Staff favorite in August. I currently have several other iPhone and iPad apps in development including a Flickr postcards app and a Craigslist app which are nearing completion as well as a Facebook photo albums app.
I create and design the apps here in LA and I work remotely with my partners who are located out in Ukraine to get the apps programmed very cost effectively. Let me know if you'd like to meet and discuss some Mahalo projects. Dotan Saguy Lifelike Apps.
I'm myself an iPhone/iPad developer but a friend of mine is a real expert I've known to date. One thing, however, we're not in US!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
