That article seems to be pure speculation, and nothing to do with any indications by Apple. -- Quote Does any of this make any sense at all, or am I suffering from a temporary bout of Irrational iPad Exuberance? -- /Quote My quick thoughts.... There could be a market for different sized iPads.
People want slightly different things from them... some people want a larger screen to watch proper widescreen HD video. Some people (like me! ) would be attracted to a smaller and lighter device that was more paperback sized. No the latter wouldn't just be an iPod Touch.
That fits easily in your jeans pocket, and you don't even have to think about having it always with you. It is good for many things, but a larger screen, i.e. Paperback size, would be very nice for reading, watching videos and playing games.
However arguing against Apple bringing out different sized models is that the more hardware variants you have, the harder you make life for software developers. In fact that is one reason why it's a bit of a nightmare to develop for Android phones... too many different kinds with too many different hardware features and too many different OS flavors. Apple's philosophy is to always keep things pretty simple and standardized.
So I'll believe this speculation when I see Apple confirm it, not before.
I think that eventually (maybe 3 - 5 years out), the iPad is going to completely replace Apple's monitor lineup. I think that rather than buy a monitor, you're going to buy an iPad that connects to a Mac Desktop computer (or a secondary monitor for a laptop). Think about how powerful this would be.
Not only would it be pretty cool if you could touch your screen when you didn't feel like using the mouse, but think how "minority report" it would be to pick up your monitor and have all of your documents, emails, etc go with you. You could leave the power back in the office and take the tablet home to keep in touch. That's my vision for the small, medium and large tablets.
More like the size of the iPad now, a 24" version and a 42" version.
Assuming the rumor is true, I think three sizes might be a little excessive. Two sizes might be good. Three sizes could work though if you were going to have a regular iPad, a slightly smaller and more portable iPad, and then something like an iPad Pro with a 15 inch screen size.
If they had a large iPad running OS X Snow Leopard, that could actually work really well. I'm assuming it would have a USB port and multitasking of course, but I think that could work for the third size. I'd normally worry about Apple creating too many products and causing customer confusion, but they've always done a pretty good job of bundling products into "families" and keeping things simple.
People don't seem to be too confused by the iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, at least from what I've seen.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
