I think it might be to some celebrities, but mostly it's so the children can have better lives. I don't think that white people are the only ones adopting African children... Oprah sponsors families there all the time. I think it's setting them up for success, they will have the best schooling, best clothes and health care.
If anything, they are some of the luckiest people.
I think the celebrities think it makes them seem more Worldly. And for the sake of $$$$ they want every culture to Love them. However, If I came across a black child that was orphaned, and I just fell in love with that child, I would probably want to be his or her mother.
Or especially if some of our black friends suddenly died and it was children I already loved. BTY, If someone is half white and half black (like my niece) why do people just say they are black? And where did the term African American come from?
There are plenty of black people that are not of African heritage. I guess that would make me, an Irish, German, English, Native American (Indian), and Dutch American. But then again, how often do you really meet anyone that is the color white or black?
It's usually shades of colors. Just sayin':) KT Banks.
To me it seems more of a "pet project" than anything else. There are plenty of poor Black children in America yet going abroad seems more sterile and unblemished. Oprah said it best "Black kids in Africa would be more appreciative".
Now she has a whole school full of little "pet projects".
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
