I've heard directly from staff that Anonymous questions are truly anonymous. Mahalo doesn't keep ANY information about Anonymous questions - not names, IP addresses... nothing! No... we can't trust Mahalo staff around privacy.
They are human (except for Lon... he's a cyborg), and stuff happens. Mahalo has a responsibility to keep our financial information private. That'd be like handing out credit card numbers.
I'm also hoping they won't give away addresses... but that's why I only give out my PO box. Just in case.
Personally I believe in the saying, "Don't post something on the internet unless you wouldn't mind seeing it on a billboard. " The internet is still a comparatively young technology, privacy regulations are still being shaped, and frankly data security is not what it should be. Let the buyer beware.
I find the Mahalo staff very professional and curtious, yet I don't have much expectation of privacy for those questions. I believe that the staff will work very hard to maintain privacy, both as a matter of honor, and as it impacts the reputation of the site, but at the same time I don't believe that they are magicly immune to hacking. On a personal level I know to take "Private" and "Anonymous" as relative terms when it comes to the internet, but I do worry for people who are not as savy about the internet.
Obviously the answer is no according to the Mahalo privacy policy. But then nothing is truly anonymous on the internet due to your IP address often being logged. Mahalo however stores very little personally identifiable information."Anonymous" for the purpose of this site means that the question isn't publicly associated with your Mahalo account.
You could increase privacy by creating a seperate account under which to post anonymous questions but this may violate the Mahalo Terms Of Service.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
