Are biracial relationships really impacting the society? Thu, Sep 16, 1999 - 11:23 AM/EST Many of us in the group are involved in biracial relationships and my question is: other than our own happiness, are we really affecting anyone? Will we ever affect anyone or will we always be just a societal curiosity?
Does it matter whether we do or not? In the former Yugoslavia there were marriages between Bosnians and Serbs, and there were what seemed to be friendly relations between nieghbors from the different ethnic groups. But when crunch time came, none of that mattered and nieghbor were willing to shoot people whose children the were watching the week before.
My question may be getting a little too big now but you could even ask if the whole idea of multiculturalism is bogus. For goodness sake, you can't even tell a Serb from a Croate without asking him, yet these people are killing ... more.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
