Does music reflect society as society changes or can music actually affect society enough to?

Music USED TO reflect society. It existed to empower and entertain our citizens. Now, it is being used to brainwash everyone into being something less than human.

This New Garbage is played in conjunction with subliminal messages that literally PUSH your mind to believe in certain ways. It actually is everything that REAL MUSIC ISN'T: Disempowering, conformist, confusing, discomforting PROGRAMMING. If it was made after 1990, it is probably toxic to your self-esteem.

It's a good question and it's hard to say. If you look at musics evolution, you can see, music changes along with society, but at the same time it doesn't change completely. I think one of the main factors is generation.

Now days we have artists like Lady Gaga, and of course what she has to say "registers" in the mind of her followers. I don't believe it's always a good thing though. I think many of societies problems are caused due to some of these artists.

If various artists were to start singing about cheating, making money and being a pimp, their audience will start to think it's ok. A song is generally something you listen to over and over again, so this only reinforces the fact that what they are singing about which in some cases is not something good, gets programmed into the listeners mind. Music is something that is out of this world. It can bring people together, I believe that.

It can solve a lot of problems. But it's up to society to decide if they'll let the music break down the walls.

Music changes to society. I actually wrote a blog about this. whitedovefliesfree.com/2011/07/generati.

I think music is designed to do both. It often provokes thought. The songwriter is using music to put forward his (or her) thoughts. So, a song can communicate the writer's perception of how things are, or ...A song can express how the writer thinks things should be.

I often get upset with TV because the writers are blatant with their expressions of how they think society is all messed up, but they have the answers for how we should change. So many times, these writers have not sufficiently researched the subject before they begin presenting solutions.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
