Canker sores and cold sores share many of the same features. Both are very painful and can be caused from stress. The main difference between them is that cold sores are caused by a virus and can be passed from person to person.
Canker sores are not caused by a virus and therefore can not be passed from person to person.
While shewolf is right you should also be aware that you can get cold sores within your mouth, they feel and look exactly like a canker sour but are contagious. It's most common with a first outbreak and can also present with cold or flu like symptoms. The first time I ever got a cold sore they went down my throat, the doctors though it was strep at first until they spread covering my entire mouth.. horridly painful.My son also got them in his mouth the first time he got one.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
