My brain tells me that adults love cartoons today because it was more a part of their growing up than ever. I am 34 years old and while we didn't have vcrs and cable until I was a teenager, we at least had PBS and Saturday morning cartoons. This was much more than my parents ever dreamed about having.
Now with my son, there is access to cartoons 24/7. I think now with the 24/7 the adult oriented cartoons are not taking away time, but they are providing unfit programs for children. Many people don't realize that cartoon network is nothing but garbage any more and not suited for children.
I think there needs to be more monitoring going on. I haven't seen Bugs Bunny for awhile, but who knows, it's probably been banned because of the smoking and hunting of rabbits or something silly like that. I do find classics such as Wacky Races, Yogi Bear and The Jetsons on Boomerang. My son prefers the Nickelodeon stuff over these.
However, here again I have to watch some. I don't think that Spongebob is fitting for small children. It has a great deal of adult humor and name calling. I loved when the frog sings on the old looney tunes.
The guy gets so upset he won't sing and gives up, then the frog sings. I can't think of any cartoons right off the top of my head that still does this, but I do think that The Backyardigans provide some entertaining songs that are fun for children.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
