More gobbledygook from another pseudo-intellectual to earn his salary. Real news must have been in short supply. Shelli, didn't a number of countries do away with religion some time ago.
Countries that made it a crime to worship. Countries that established atheism as a political philosophy. Maybe you should go back and review that history lesson.
You might be surprised. Read up on how worship was carried on in secret, under the constant threat of persecution. And how, when the philosophies of those countries failed, the first thing that came back was the religious pratices. In Egypt, the president has to sign a resolution in order to get a Christian church built anywhere.
Few churches get a permit. Saudi Arabia has built more than 1360 Mosques in foreign countries, yet no Christian churches are allowed in their country. The open practice of Christianity is prohibited and persecuted and punished.
Turkey does not permit Churches to be constructed, and Christians are persecuted. Algeria requires a permit to rebuild damaged churches and construct new ones. No permits have been issued in the last 10 years.
I could go on and on…Pakistan, Iran…The Muslim world has no tolerance for any religion except their own. Christians are persecuted in most if not all Muslim countries. I would guess that Saudi Arabia is in the front of the Muslim line to build a mosque at ground zero.
What a plum for world wide Islam! I can see a time when it would become a second Mecca. Yes…fundamental Christians are an embarrassment to our country…. But never, ever compare them unfavorably with respect to Islam.
Take the worst of our fundamentalists and they are kind and tolerant compared to Muslims. Geppetto 61 months ago.
