Extreme pro-lifers do not believe in a rape exception; for instance, Rick Perry used to be okay with rape exceptions, but says he had a change of heart when watching Mike Huckabee's pro-life film . . .
Similarly, the pro-life movement even came out with a "Conceived in Rape" bus tour. As the movement becomes more ideologically extreme, it's harder and harder for politicians to get their approval unless they're also on board. Allow for exemptions for health or rape?
You're likely to get a poor scorecard from pro-life institutions and receive a lot of criticism saying you're not *really* pro-life. That seems to be what drives the increased extremism regarding abortion. EDIT: @Carter: "Besides, very few rapes result in pregnancy."
I'm always amazed at this line of reasoning. "X is very rare, therefore f*ck the minority of people who had X done to them." EDIT: @Jarrod Bennett: "Consider this scenario: an architect says to you, "I'm going to blow up that building over there.
I'm not sure if there's someone in there who's going to die or not, but I'm just going to blow it up anyway." Would that be okay with you?" A woman is not an inanimate building .
. . EDIT: @El Tecolote: "How many Republican Presidents have there been since 1973 AND HOW MANY TIMES HAS ROE V.
WADE BEEN OVERTURNED? Your precious goddamn abortion rights are safe." Abortion has been the target of increasing restrictions under Republican state legislatures: http://www.guttmacher.org/media/inthenew... EDIT: @Carter/Jarrod Bennett: "Why punish the child for the crime of the father?"
Therapeutic abortion in the case of pregnancies resulting from rape has nothing to do with punishment and everything to do with the mental health of the woman in question. You might want to read my answer here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
Because they have paid lip service to the people that vote on this single-issue for decades, and it isn't an insignificant voting bloc. If they got rid of it..... they would not even be paying lip service to these people's concerns any more... and then those same people would finally realize they have voted for IMMORALITY posing as morality for the last 30 years.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
