Well, frankly I don't think the Raiders fans are even close to the most loyal. I think it has something to do with the owner...I don't think Al Davis is going to let fans be loyal because the team could be moved at any point. Having lived in the Bay Area of California for most of my life, I can attest that there are *some* loyal Raiders fans, but the numbers are extremely small compared to east coast teams.
I have been to Green Bay, and with all due respect for the collective fans of every other NFL team, the Packers fans have got everyone else beat by a country mile. The entire town bleeds green and yellow...I've never seen anything like it. You can't go down one street without seeing a Packer flag flying from a porch, or a green and yellow mailbox. It's a way of life there, as opposed to something you enjoy 16 Sundays per year.
Note, this is coming from a 49er fan, and longtime season ticket holder.
Having watched NFL |National Football League play for over fifty years and in different cities, I have come to understand what loyalty is, and it isn't just having a packed stadium. When you speak of the Oakland Raiders, they have had successes that still remain in the memories of many fans. Though they are going through tough times right now, those memories still help get their fans through the tumultuous days of the NFL season.
On the hand if you look East to the Motor City, you will see fans with very few reason to hold onto their team. Other than Barry Sanders they have suffered for better than fifty years, yet the faithful still come out on Sundays to watch their team and suffer through the pangs of another loss. They even have fans making up songs about them, women fighting in the stands to defend their boys (apparently the guys have given up), and a chant after the games while they walk to their cars in the streets.

I have to disagree. Twelve years ago I might have agreed with you dismissing the Pittsburg Steelers fans, but after marring into a family from Pennsylvania, I have to strongly disagree. Their following of the Steelers is more than just fandom: its borderline cult.
They don’t just have a small group of super fans—they are all super fans. Now you might argue they have been spoiled by being treated well by the Rooney family who act as stewards as much as owners. That long term commitment of hiring good coaches and letting them have free reign to do what they need has built some deep roots into all of Western Pennsylvania.
The fans know the entire roster, not just the stars, and follow them from the first hike of practice to the last story about the team after the season. The strongest argument I have about a Steelers fan other than even their passion being mentioned in a Charlie Daniels song, is that they go well beyond their Three Rivers Stadium. They will follow the team to anywhere the opposing team might leave an empty seat.
I just couldn’t let this question go without defending these nuts.
I don't live in the Oakland area or follow the team, so hard to tell from my standpoint. I must say that every time I've seen a Raiders game, the place is sold out though, despite the horrible record they've had in recent seasons. I've seen the same for many years being an Eagles fan, not in this decade but back in the middle 1980's.
I think Philly fans, although can be rowdy and very hard on their team at times, ALWAYS go to the games. The place is packed. If anyone says anything bad at the team, everyone better watch out, they will defend them like a mother defending her child. At the same time, they will rip their players very quickly as well.
That's just because they are so passionate about the team and them doing well. Philadelphia has the most loyal fans in the NFL. I might be biased as an Eagle fan for over 30 years but this is just my opinion.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
