Here is the thing, Columbus did some horrible things to the Native people, but nobody in the history of the US did more damage to the Native Americans then Thomas Jefferson yet we honor him with a massive memorial...the thing is you just cannot un-write history, or cherry pick what you do and do not want to remember. Honestly this would be much easier solved if we just had a indigenous peoples day, or made more of an effort to reconize their contributions to society....a lot of people do not realize that for many native americans things like gainful employment or higher education means leaving their way of life, their land, their languages, and their culture behind, and the "Christian" thing to do has always been to encourage them to abandon their beliefs for someone elses, and that needs to change.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
