That's just normal RP (Received Pronunciation). She happens to be speaking it in an over-enthusiastic way to make the programme sound more dramatic. I expect she doesn't sound like that in normal conversation.
It doesn't relate to a region. It is more of the educated accent of south-east England, but really it can be found almost anywhere in England amongst people of the higher social classes, especially if they went to a fee-paying school. And sometimes not even those - I have a definite RP accent, and I come from a working-class background in west London.
Mary is from Shropshire, but that isnt a shropshire accent, FAR from it she has clearly evolved that accent on purpose Normally its pretty easy to identify a regional accent even though we have so many but hers is contrived and made from many, and no a true accent of one place.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
