Interesting question. I think it all depends on site content. Mahalo seems like a gender neutral site.It covers a wide range of topics and doesn't cater directly to one gender or another.

Because of this, I think there is a fairly even split among men and women on this site. Communities that revolve around a specific topic are more likely to draw a higher percentage of one gender over the other. Examples: A fashion community might draw more women.

An automotive community might draw more men. It's all about the content of the website.

According to Quantcast (a service which measures site traffic and then divides it by demographics for advertising purposes) 53% of visitors to Mahalo are male and 47% are female. On the other hand YouTube is estimated at 50/50 male and female. Your friend was just making that up.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
