Are you excited about Apple developing two new iPhones for Verizon?

Usually competition is a good thing, but only when the system works. Any Verizon customers that really wanted an iphone already switched to ATT to get it. The die hard Verizon fans will get the Verizon iphone regardless of whether it costs more because they are Verizon die hards (same goes for ATT fans).

Notice how there is no competition to speak of for blackberry data plans? What makes you think there will be for the iphone? Similarly, even when there are two ISPs in an area there is no real competition.

This doesn't just apply to price by the way, things like usage caps are affected as well. Both ISPs just match each other and so they both get away with subpar performance, features, and price. At the end of the day I'll still be happy to have a verizon iphone (even though I am happy with ATT) just because at least then there will be a chance of competition.

The only thing I am happy about is that Apple is developing new and forward looking devices. Before the iphone came out the progress in the smartphone arena was glacial. More has changed in the last 2 years than the previous 5.

The competition we will see won't be between Verizon and ATT for cheaper iphone plans, the competition will be every other handset maker improving their phones, trying out android, and pushing technology forward for everyone.

My pocket is. I got two, and AT&T is going to have to show me some love if they want me to stick around after my plan expires.

I would be excited about the possibility of a real iPhone coming to Verizon. I have an iPhone right now, and I strongly dislike AT&T but I am willing to put up with their service to get the device. I would not get either an "iphone lite" or a higher end netbook type of device.

I like my iPhone the way it is and I don't want to change it. So, I will wait and see what comes out of the discussions. I would strongly hope for a fully functional iPhone that will simply work with Verizon's network.

Barring that, I'll probably bite the bullet and stay with AT&T.

Oh I am. Competition makes products better, with Verizon carrying the iPhone, maybe AT&T will drop their prices to keep people coming to them. Although I am intigued by the iPhone lite.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
