Charlie95 replied to post #3: 4 I agree with Poppet. Some good in the bill, but many problems as well. That the 111th Congress House of Representatives is comprised of 257 Democrats, and only 219 Democrats voted for the bill, speaks to the problems with the bill.
And it took many several hundred million dollars of special amendments and promises of jobs to get the 219 votes for the bill. Without the hundreds of millions in the amendments and the months of arm-twisting, this bill may have withered on the vine. And as the taxes will be collected long before the benefits kick in, the jury is still out on the net cost of the bill.
Guernica editors Joel Whitney and Michael Archer recently spoke with Wendell Potter, the former mouthpiece for Cigna and ubiquitous healthcare commentator, about passage of the legislation. Guernica: Opponents say the federal mandate will be the first time the government has forced the American public to buy a product. Are you in favor of it?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
