I wear socks all year round to maintain the length of shoe use. We used to be able to wash our shoes more but now most are not able to throw in the washer so I try to wear socks with them. Having a narrow foot, it also keeps the shoe fitting better.
In the hot summer though it's flip flops and sandals all the way except when going in public places. Then I wear think socks or peds in a shoe. To protect my feet from all the grossness.
I rotate my sneakers so they don't wear out as soon and have a closet ready for most occasions including panty hose if needed.
I always wear socks to work and if I'm going somewhere. But when I'm just shlepping around on my time off, I jam my feet directly into my sneakers--they're cloth sneakers so my feet generally stay pretty cool (it doesn't get really warm around here that often). Yea, socks would absorb sweat but it doesn't mean your feet are going to avoid being smelly--over New Years we went to my mom's house and the rule is everyone takes off their shoes at the door and, man, there were some horribly smelly socks walking around that house that day.
I go sockless and then wash my feet when I get home and take off my shoes. I never wear boots because my feet get really hot in boots and I have to take a pair of shoes I can change into--so I just don't wear boots (too much trouble).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
