Arresting a 5 yr. Old, over the top parenting? A Florida mom is facing criticism after she arranged for a Lee County, Florida police deputy to handcuff her 5-year-old son and throw him in the back of a cruiser during a fake arrest in order to teach him a lesson about playing with matches and setting fires outside the family’s home.

The mother was defiant about the act of tough love but child welfare specialists said it went too far. The Sheriff’s Department is now investigating the incident because it is not police procedure to handcuff anyone who is not about to be arrested. I think it was a good idea. Parents need to let kids see the seriousness of their actions. HRS {home 'recking service} needs to let parents do their job and only step in when the child is being abused.

Well...Maybe. On one hand, there is the fact that this is a very VERY dramatic reastion to what happened, and probably could have been thought out a bit better, but perhaps it was necessary, if the child wouldn't stop playing with matches, it may have been the only way to scare him out of doing so, although putting the matches somewhere he cannot get to them might have been a much better alternative. Since it didn't do anything other than scare the ever-living crap out of the kid, I think it's passable, although I don't personally condone it.

2 Way to get your kid to hate the police. Seriously, I totally understand her motive, but making a policeman the bad guy is not a good parenting. She should have meted out the punishment herself.

3 All I can say is what a Horrible mom. Whether her motives were right or wrong, I would NEVER do that to my child. She should be able to handle a FIVE YEAR OLD oh her own.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
