My 3 1/2 year old grand-daughter came this morning for a couple of days. I was concerned that she would want to go home and it's a few hours away. Since she was "too busy coloring" or "didn't feel like it right now", when they called seperately and wanted to talk to her, I guess she is not too homesick.

My daughter started at 1 I am not a grandparent, but a parent of two kids. My daughter was one when she started spending the night at her Nana's. She is now 11 and looks forward to their Saturday nights together.
They are very close and I am so lucky to have such a wonderful mom. She was always happy to get away for a night and loved to go with anyone. My son though is a different child.
He loves that his sister is gone so he has alone time with me. And he doesn't like to spend the night away from home unless I do too. He is 8 and still doesn't go to sleepovers.By his choice, not mine.
I am a camp counselor and you would be shocked how many kids are sent to camp for a week and they have never been away from home for even one night. We deal with a lot of homesickness. It is great you get to have that special time with your granddaughter, a child can never have too much love :-) shaelyn's Recommendations Chicken Soup for the Grandma's Soul: Stories to Honor and Celebrate the Ageless Love of Grandmothers (Chicken Soup for the Soul) Amazon List Price: $14.95 Used from: $1.27 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 5 reviews) Grandma, Tell Me Your Memories Amazon List Price: $10.00 Used from: $0.91 Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5 (based on 13 reviews) Grandma and Me Amazon List Price: $6.99 Used from: $1.29 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 16 reviews) The Grandma Book Amazon List Price: $9.99 Used from: $4.26 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 1 reviews) Grandma's Keepsake Journal: A Book of Memories & Hopes for My Grandchild Amazon List Price: $14.95 Used from: $4.951 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 2 reviews) My children love to have Nana read them stories. And I love the memory book my great grandma filled out and left to me, it is a very special treasure.
It depends I'm not a grandparent, but I have a 3 1/2 year old who LOVES his grandmother. She means the world to him and is his favorite person. When he was 2 he would sleep over at her house with no problem and get very excited to do so.
I think it is wonderful that you have a special relationship with your granddaughter. My son would never be happy sleeping at my husband's mother's house. I remember how much I loved being with my own grandmother.

Mine don't have any issues. My 1yr and 2yr olds have no problems going by themselves to visit their Mimi for a couple days. We occasionally take a weekend away and leave them with my mother-in-law and they are in hog heaven.
Now, we started doing this when they were tiny, so it may be that they are accustomed to us leaving them there, but I think being with a grandparent is different than being with a babysitter.
It would have been easier if she had a few overnights before this, but it should not be too bad. Did you explain to her that she had to stay for a few days, that she could not go home? My kids always do better with things if they know beforehand what is happening and why.
Their first time with several overnights was when they were about 2 1/2 (twins). It worked out well. There was no complaining, but they knew beforehand what was happening and why.It helped that they were together.
We even used it as a chance to break them of passifiers. We gave their aunt a few in secret, but told the kids we forgot them.My son said, "Well, Osmary (Rosemary), I guess we'll just have to hold our horses (stuffed animals). " .
They aren't grandkids, but Our nieces come to visit at least once a year, starting when the youngest was less than 4 years old. We never had homesickness troubles.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
