I remember that my parents made me wait until I was 16 before I was allowed to get my ears pierced. I had a boy so of course he really didn't want his ear pierced until he was over 18 and he did it on his own. I don't think moms should just go and get their babies ears pierced.
That just isn't right. They need to wait until the child at least gets old enough to decide whether they want their ears pierced or not. :-).
Hospitals and maternity hospitals will ask the parents if they want their daughter's ears to be pierced several days after they're born, so I will get my daughter's ears pierced shortly after she is born. I get my ears pierced when I was an adult and it's a horrible experience, not the pain, but the resulting infection. I got my ears pierced twice to get it right.
If it's a boy, I will only allow him to pierce his ears after he gets into university because schools don't allow boys to have their ears pierced. ETA: most females here get their ears pierced since they're babies since it's sort of a custom here, but their piercings are in much better condition than the ones done at adulthood, and they last longer without using any earrings for extended period of time too.
Well, since I have a little boy, there was no urge to get his ears pierced. Although he did end up wanting it when he was about 11, and that lasted about 6 months, until football started and he kept getting it caught when he put his helmet on. Needless to say he took out the earing and hasn't talked about it since.
I was 4 when I got my ears pierced the first time... Maybe that was a little young, but at least I was old enough to understand that it was getting done. I don't like small babies getting their ears pierced. So many things could happen, it falling out in the middle of the night, anything....so why take that chance with such a little person.
Really, they are cute enough without having bling.
16, and only if my child wanted to. 16 is my number is because piercing guns are NOT sanitary, and no respectable piercing business will pierce ears younger than 16. Guns cannot be sterilized because they would melt in the autoclave, and alcohol does NOT sterilize.
The guns are absolutely disgusting, and since they pierce with the jewelry itself, it's not a clean slice--it's a blunt tear. When my kid is old enough to go to a real piercing business, they can get pierced. I have over 30 piercings currently, have been pierced more than 40 times, and used to work at a tattoo/piercing shop.
I feel pretty strongly. Despite getting my ears gun pierced when I was 11, I would put my foot down on that.
I would never force my children to get their ears pierced. It's permanently altering their body, and aside from the possible complications, they should be old enough to have some say in the matter. My mother never had my ears pierced, and I'm 18 and still don't have any piercings. It just turned out that I'm not a jewelry-loving girl.
I would like to extend this courtesy to my children and allow them the choice to decide whether they want any piercings. I would wait until they are old enough to clearly speak up for themselves, maybe age 5.
At age 5 or before. This age is appropriate because the ears are soft and can be pierced easily. It heals very quickly too.
Whereas if taken when older, it will take a lot of time to heal and will pain a lot. As earings look pretty on every girls, it's better to have ears pierced early. P.S.My ears were pierced when I was 4...and I don't remember crying very bad.
I just got a lollipop and stopped crying.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
