There are a few points to stress: -Money could be saved in the long run, this could help with scholarships and such. -Travel gives something a traditional education never could, it helps make you a more cultured person. -This could help you discover a passion, and ignite a flame for future education.
-If not now then when? This will never be more practical for you. -And SHOW them how much you truly want to go, outline a plan of how you will help to make this possible.
Do your research, show them the benefits. I traveled to South Africa in high school. Thus far, it has been the biggest learning experience hands down.
I can't stress enough how much I support your desire to study abroad. Good luck!
I went on a People to People trip one year ago, my trip was to Europe for 20 days. It cost about $8000. It is really expensive for the trips, but it really is a good organization.
People who look at it from an outside perspective like "Oh I can't afford that" immediatly assume the organization is bogus. My trip took me to 30 some cities in 5 different countries....a similiar trip by myself without the help of People to People would have cost well beyond $8000. So when you consider all of the locations included and how it sets you apart on college apps (which it really does)....it is well worth it.
I graduated from my high school in the 4th spot in my class, I was right up near the top. So yes, it does cost a pretty penny, but it is an experience you will NEVER forget. I am still friends to this day with the people that I met on the trip.
It boosted my knowledge and confidence and helped me become a higher achieving person. I highly recommend People to People. (Show my answer to your parents, if myself as an honor student and a presidential scholar am not a worthy source then I don't know what is.).
Bring those horrid grades up to A's. Do it and let them discover it will get you totally mistrusted for years. If I were the parent the bar comes out, your bedroom door is removed and all electronics you so love would be taken from you.
The best I can figure from your other posts you are 15 and no 15 year old needs their tongue pierced. It looks trashy and is very unsanitary and increases your chances of TONGUE CANCER, look it up!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
