Faith" is by definition unmerited belief. Consider your audience: Noah’s Ark -Upward of 60% of Americans believe in the story of Noah’s Ark, word by word. Meaning that more than half of this country believes that a guy built an ark, put all of the world’s animals in there (including all of the fish and sea creatures), told them not to kill each other, fed them who-knows-what during the flood, and then put each animal (and dinosaur?) in the specific climate in which they would prosper.
Rapture - More than half of Americans believe that the “prophecies of The Book of Revelations,” including the idea that we will have a “rapture” and Jesus will return to take the faithful, are literal descriptions of events likely to occur in their lifetime. Meanwhile, atheists pray (pun intended) that the “Faithful” are right, and that they will disappear and get out of the way of humanity’s progress. Creation/Humans and Dinosaurs -Around half of the people in the United States believe that God created earth somewhere between 6,000 and 10,000 years ago.
They believe this despite the fact that they receive an education (except in Kansas) that continually explains to them evolution, and the age of the earth. Why even go to school if you don’t believe the multiplication table? The juiciest part of this belief is the explanation for dinosaur bones -1) ”God” put the dinosaur fossils in Earth to test our faith.” or, 2) "Satan" put the dinosaur fossils there to deceive us.
Yup, and God put “altar boys” in the church to test his Priests celibacy. New Testament, Old Testament- To put all of this in perspective, around half of Americans do not know that Judaism came before Christianity. So, despite the fact that Jesus was a Jew, nearly half of Americans believe that Christianity is older than Judaism.
As Bill Maher put it, “half of Americans look at the Old Testament and the New Testament and do not know which came first. We are a divided nation, Left and Right, Republican and Democrat, Educated and Ignorant, Critical and Gullible, Skeptical and Credulous. The half of America you are speaking to would easily believe that Elvis was an undercover DEA agent who faked his death to escape the drug cartel's vengeance, that UFO aliens visited the ancient Incas, that Jimmy Swaggart has stopped frequenting prostitutes, and Benny Hinn cures diabetes by waving his Armani jacket around.
They would believe all this crazy crap and more long before they would believe the Carbon 14 dating of a fossil. They are trained to evade the evidence and reject the rational no matter how much is placed before them because anyone challenging their belief is an agent of evil, and that to resist any contrary evidence to their beliefs is spiritually virtuous and pleases their god. The thicker the baloney you swallow without chewing, the more crowns you get in heaven.
As "Cat" posted above, he assumes a priori that "there can never be any evidence that God does not exist, ever." He will stick his fingers in his ears, squeeze his eyes shut, and sing "Jesus Loves Me" at the top of his lungs rather than critically examine the beliefs he has uncritically accepted without scrutiny and without proof. You may as well present your evidence to my cat, though my cat is less culpable because he lacks the intellect to understand the evidence while those you are asking fear if they use their brains it sends out a homing signal that the Devil and his demons will follow back to the source and give them hemorrhoids.
As a Follower of the Way, Nope. Nothing. Not because if there was irrefutable evidence, I would ignore it.
Because there can never be any proof that God is an illusion, ever.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
