According to polls, Yes. On the flip side, Christians do more crimes than atheists by far and religiosity is directly correlated to nearly every metric society dislikes, teen preg, disease, uneducated, poverty, violent crime, rape etc. Also, atheists are shown to be more intelligent on average and intelligence and drug use correlate. One could easily chock up atheists shortcomings to the indisputable fact that they are the most hated group in america. This obviously leads to some undesirable life patterns.
Literally the higher someones IQ the higher the chance they will be an atheist. I don't see that as something in religious people's favor. So, Atheists and atheistic societies are constantly shown to be harmonious and happy societies worldwide whereas the higher a countries religiosity, the worse the metric for human well-being.
You would have to ignore a mountain of evidence to say that atheists are anything but beneficial to society. If you had an irrational hatred for drug use, you could begin to make a point, but the simple fact that they are constantly ostracized puts their drug use , depression and suicide rates at normal for any persecuted group. If you could put yourself in the shoes of one who has the moral conviction to call bullshit on a widely accepted though thoroughly disproven idea, despite knowing they will forever be regarded as lower than a rapist by society, you could begin to understand why depression is a problem with this group which is obviously very conscientious on average.
Likewise, you see similar numbers in homosexuals depending on the amount of social stigma placed upon them by their region. This strongly indicates that the metrics you mentioned are a direct result of social pressures placed on them by the religious majority that thinks nothing of calling them baby eaters and accusing them of societies worst crimes despite the fact that they are tied with jehovah witnesses for the position of most law abiding. In the case of JW's it is their policy not to call secular law but handle things in house, so as you see- those numbers are very skewed.
Basically atheists are the most law abiding citizens bar none. Yet the most hated. If I had to give a reason I would note the fact that preachers (whom we have historically listened to) both have an agenda against this group and have NEVER been worried about fact checking as it would ruin their whole deal.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
