ATTENTION PICKY EATERS! What foods can you not bear to eat? Why?
What makes them so awful? Is it smell, texture, taste, a bad experience...what? I'm curious about this.

There are so many My foods that I can't bear to eat include: raisens, grapes, onions, peppers, tomatoes, meats in a paste form. Mostly it is due to texture issues as seen by the fact that I don't have a problem with most of those foods in other forms and enjoy the following: grape juice, onion flavor (I use very small bits of dried onion and am fine with these very small pieces), salsa when it is pureed so it is smooth and chunkless, tomato sauce, regular meat. Another problem is that I have bad associations with those foods for a variety of reasons and if one gets put in my mouth I literally cannot swallow and sometimes start gagging.
I am currently fighting the desire to wretch just from thinking about them (seriously, just having some of those foods served to me in the incorrect form can make me feel ill, but I have a very strong imagination). I am now going to end this answer while I am still ahead in that fight.
Cauliflower, asparagus, cooked cabbage (I can handle it raw), and pickles are at the top of my list. All three smell repulsive and cauliflower feels funny in my mouth. I don’t like anything pickled because I don’t like vinegar and cooking cabbage makes all sorts of strange sounds.
I also don’t like cottage cheese because of the way if feels in my mouth. Asparagus looks, smells and feels nasty and if it had a sound that sound would probably be nasty also. Liver is also a no no because of the way it feels and because when I was growing up my mom always tried to make me eat the stuff.
When cooked with onions liver actually smells pretty good but I still won’t eat it. Turnip greens are another thing that smells good while cooking but the taste makes me gag. Raisins make the list because although they smell pretty good and actually taste pretty good they are rotten grapes for heaven sakes and who wants to eat rotten fruit.
Fermented fruit is another story entirely. Sources: my odd tastes KingofRandomCrap's Recommendations Veggie Tales ® I Can! Texture is my number one reason. There are a few foods that I associate with negative memories and I don't like the smell of seafood, but I have what my husband calls major food issues with texture. One bite with the wrong texture and I gag and can't eat anymore. It really limits my veggie, fruit, and meat intake.
Of course, I compensate with bread, pasta, and chocolate. Kidding. I will try anything and start to eat a lot of foods that appeal to me in terms of flavor.
All it takes is one wrong bite, and I'm through. It drives my husband crazy. He can't understand how I can go canoing and camping along the Missouri river and be unphased by accidentally grabbing an eight foot bull snake instead of my walking stick but be freaked out by a bite of chicken.
Fish/Shellfish and Meat off of a bone... 1) I don't like fish, or shell fish. I like canned tuna made into tuna salad or battered fish (fish and chips), but that's about it. I guess I never developed a taste for it as a child.2) I don't eat meat directly off of the bone (ie.
Chicken, ribs, chicken wings). It just grosses me out to have food prepared with the bones and skin still left on, and served to me on my plate. I will however, buy chicken and cut away the bones, then cook it.
I guess the idea of eating meet off of a bone just doesn't appeal to me. My husband didn't believe me at first and now thinks I miss one of the best food (ribs) in his opinion. Sources: my quirks .
Sea Cucumbers and Cow Tongue! Sea Cucumbers have the taste and texture of mucus regurgitated, coagulated, reconstituted and cooked to a firm putty that makes me want to throw up, and cow tongue... eww it’s like frenching a bovine! .
Won't eat veggies...hate spicey sauces...despise pasta...*sigh.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
