Australia: Can soy sauce that doesn't list MSG in ingredients contain added monosodium glutamate?

The soy sauce should have MSG listed if it is added as an ingredient. The Food Standards Code, Standard 1.2.4 for Australia and NewZealand states that packaged foods must have it listed as a flavor enhancer, followed by the specfic name of the additive - it may not be MSG, it could be the chemical name or related products, such as: Monosodium glutamate Monopotassium glutamate or several other products that have glutamate as part of their names However, soy sauces are naturally high in glutamates and they may not be additives, per se. There is a complex fermentation process that can create glutamates, involving various microorganisms.

The natural levels of glutamate may be equivalent to that found in foods were it is added as a flavor enhancer. In that case, labeling is not required by the Australia-New Zealand Food Standards Code.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
