President Obama has made most of his speeches based on glittering generalities without any clear description of action. He addresses issues important to all of us--health care, taxes, the economy, earmarks--without following through on any clear plans. It may be that down the road he will do these things, but since the campaign is over, I think he needs to limit his remarks to more immediate measures that he is actually performing so that people can see he is a man of action and not merely words.
One idea is that he has high hopes and hasn't zeroed in on how to achieve them. A more cynical idea is that he had hoped to sell us on his intent rather than his results. In other words, if every fails, we will at least know that he meant well.
Anyone who thought the honeymoon period would extend any further for Obama than it has for any other American president was deluding him or herself. President Obama and the American Public are facing one of the worst economic and political situations in US history. I'm glad that people are waking up and realizing that one man will not solve all our problems.
Perhaps it will get them off their couches and out doing something about it, whether that be a simple as contributing to intellectual discourse on the internet, or stepping it up by participating in charitable or political activities. Nate Silver at fivethirtyeight.com has some excellent things to say about approval ratings and the "honeymoon" period of new presidents. Check the link below.
Beware: "maths" are in heavy use!
Its a shame but may americans believe that he would get in office and wave a magic wand and the whole world would instantly be fixed. We see this time and time again that this is never the case.
A lot of Obama's campaign was based on hope and the fact that we would withdraw from Iraq and fix the economy. Basically, he said he was going to fix the mess that Former President George Bush left behind. Now that he's office and change isn't really happening, people are realizing that things aren't going to be easy, and that Obama won't be able to fix everything instantly.
Therefore, some people who were he is president aren't too happy anymore, because like you said, the honeymoon is over.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
