Me - I did not learn anything. For decades I have telling everyone they should have at least 5 bricks of 22 set aside for every 22 firearm they own, and, at least 500rds of centerfire ammo on hand for every rifle, pistol, and shotgun they own. Or, at least that amount of primers, projectiles and pounds of powder handy - a few pounds of powder and primers is easier to keep in a cool dry place than thousands of rounds of ammo.
Some folks say that is a low number. There have actually been 4 ammo shortages since the summer of 2008. Just that many people did not shoot enough to notice....... I think this shortage has been a huge wake up to call to Americans.
It's given people an opportunity to get a sneak peek at what happens in a real emergency. I know allot of people are now looking at other important supplies they should have more on hand in case of an emergency - water, food, etc - so this has been a good learning experience for many of the unprepared.
Q1: I learned that in a panic people will buy 22 LR in mass quantities for no apparent reason. They will buy enough to create an ammo shortage that can last almost a full year. I can't wait for the glut that is yet to come as people who have stocked up on thousands or even tens of thousands of rounds of ammo won't buy anything for YEARS.
Prices will plunge as ammo makers will be wondering "do we have to give this stuff away?" Q2: Very cheap 9mm ammo is still relatively easy to find. $11 White box.
Q3: I'll probably have more 22 LR on hand because I never thought there would be a shortage of a plinking round.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
