I do not know where you live, Erin. But here we teach boys and girls not to rape. We teach boys and girls not to bully.
We teach boys and girls to be good citizens and we pass laws that label criminal actions as "crimes", so that people will know not to do them. Yes, boys and girls and adult men and women still do commit rape, murder, paedophilia, and socialism of various kinds. It is easy to determine if a culture promotes a behaviour or if it discourages a behaviour.
If it is illegal to do it, it is discouraged.
Teaching someone not to rape is like teaching someone not to kill. You don't teach someone not to kill and you don't teach someone not to rape, because it's obvious. Everyone knows raping is wrong, illegal, and that they shouldn't do it.
Some people just can't help it, but know that raping is wrong. Telling them that raping is wrong is not going to help them control their urges. It is difficult to control urges, but it is very easy to keep those urges from becoming reality.
So instead, we teach girls how to keep people with raping urges from attacking them. Besides, why do girls go around in very short skirts anyways? To show off their bodies?
It's as if they want to get raped? Or maybe they do, but when it happens it's scarier than they thought it would be.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
