Buying A Pet Vs. Adopting A Pet?

It breaks mine as well! I guess that it just frustrates me when people buy certain breeds from a private owner when those breeds are available at shelters. Like pit bulls, for example.

Not my favorite type of dog, but why would someone buy one while there are hundreds just sitting around, waiting to be adopted? If these types of animals are adopted early enough, some of that aggressive behavior can be eradicated through training. Thank you for sharing your opinions!

I would consider buying a pet over adopting for the following reasons...- certain types of pets aren't always available to adopt. - they may only have aggressive dogs at a sheltera few other reasons that other people may point out..- if you want to breed, you can't adopt because they make you get them fixed- the dogs may no longer be puppies- people may only want pure breeds. I have done both.

I have a dog that we adopted 7 years ago. And I really wanted a chihuahua which are hard to find to adopt. I had to find a breeder in order to get him.

I will say that I hate pet stores that get their puppies from puppy mills. Because the dogs are treated poorly and it breaks my heart.

Since I am a cat person, I am able to find able supplies of new furry babies either at the shelter or through one of the rescue leagues. My husband is a dog person and we adopted our dogs from the shelted and would do it again if we ever wanted another dog. However, my mom loves miniature dachshunds.

I have convinced her that even though one is 6 months to a year old, there are still puppies. So I can't think of a reason why I would purchase a pet from an independent owner unnless I thought it was being abused.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
