To answer all your worries.. Terrorists: Security is very very high these days. They even have the xray machines now that they have people go through. They used to just let you walk through the metal detector and you'd be good to go.
Now all adults must either choose between a pat down or an xray. But since you're a minor you won't have to do that. Plane crash: Planes are the safest form of transportation.
Your chances of dying in a plane crash are 1 in 7 million. You chances of dying in a car crash are 1 in 5,000. Now I'm not saying be afraid of cars!
I'm just trying to put things into perspective. Don't worry about the plane crashing it's nearly impossible that that would happen to you. Strangers harassing me or whatever: People traveling are usually really nice.
People wouldn't harass you at all! Everyone is very nice and helpful and will be glad to answer any questions if you have any! Getting lost: Airplanes are pretty straight forward.
They have signs telling you everywhere you need to go and they also have help desks scattered around if you need anything. You could also ask an airport cop for directions. But if you're feeling lost don't hesitate to ask anyone!
Everyone is really helpful and nice. Missing my flight: How many flights do you have? Do you have connections where you'll have to transfer planes?
If it's just a nonstop flight you don't have anything to worry about. Just make sure you get to the airport far enough in advance so you can find your gate and still have time to spare. If you DO have a connection.. it's not that bad either.
Before you land the flight attendants will tell you what gate you'll be pulling into. This is when you can take out one of those little pamphlets out of the seat back. They'll have maps of all the airports their airline goes to.
You can find the gate you'll be landing at.. and find the gate for the next flight on your next boarding pass... than plan your route. If your flight is late for some reason sometimes they'll let you off the plane before others so you can make it to your gate. If you do miss your flight go to the gate and tell them.
They'll get you on the next flight to your destination. The wait is only like one or two hours.. which is a pain but isn't horrible. Security.
(It's not like I'm bringing anything bad, I just feel I might forget what I'm supposed to do!): All you have to do is take off your shoes, jacket/sweatshirt, and any metal like your belt. Put all of those in one bin. In the next bin you'll put your bag.
And the next bin you'll put all your electronics (take them out of your bag first). Then you'll just walk through the metal detector. You're done and you'll be on your way!
The people, flight attendants and whatever, forgetting about me.( I'm kinda quiet around people I don't know unless they're really friendly and talk to me.): They'll be informed that you're a minor flying alone. They'll make sure to check up on you and if you need anything just press the flight attendant call button! Whoever is supposed to get me not being there when I arrive and all that.
Ok, calm down. Relax. I'll just start off with all the concerns you listed.
1) Terrorists being on your flight is a minuscule chance. That's what security is for! Think about how many flights there are every day around the world, and nothing bad happened.
Also please don't be one of those people that sees someone who is darker or Arab looking and starts freaking out. Most Arabs are peaceful and want to help fight against terrorism. I'm only saying that because I have seen it happen before and its just really sad and disrespectful.
2) Once again, very small chance. You have a greater chance of dying in a car crash on your way to the airport. Or winning the lottery.
Its literally 1 in millions. 3) You should be able to stand up for yourself. Just try and get someone's attention for help, and tell them to leave you alone.
Just be diplomatic, and act like an adult and nobody will harass you. 4) Once again, this is just a matter of responsibility. There are signs everywhere.
5) Yet again, responsibility. Have a watch and constantly look at the time. Listen to the announcements, and check the bulletin for your flight.
6) They have big posters and videos explaining what to do. Just follow what everyone else does. 7) Flight attendants are there to assure your safety, that is their job.
They also provide amenities such as food and drinks. They won't forget to serve you. At your age, it is expected that if you need anything, you would be able to get up and contact a crew member.
What exactly would they be forgetting about you? They do their job, and that's it. They aren't servants who sit and dote on you.
You shouldn't be shy, just speak like an adult and say what you need. 8) Bring a cellphone and have their number with you. So just relax.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
