Can anyone explain to me why today's Supreme Court ruling on Hartford ISN'T legislation from the bench? The Cons majority changed the law?

Really it is an issue of fairness, they change the test to accommodate disadvantaged groups and yet deny the qualified candidates, how fair is that, they tell you to play by the rules but move aside because someone did something bad to someone I have to punish you for it. The reality is that where these fire fighters were they probably voted for candidates that wanted to help minorities, the real burden should be on the local government that did not do enough to find qualified candidates not the firefighters that played by the rules. I don’t much care for the conservative tilt of the court but I think they made the right decision as apposed to the decisions they made on age bias and DNA testing.

The whole strict constructionist/ legislate from the bench argument is just some something the GOP makes up they only believe it when it goes against them. If you understand how Conservatives operate it is not about right or wrong it is about winning.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
