He is in 4th grade, and was fascinated by Captain Underpants. S attention span with reading is not that good and I want something that will grab his attention. He likes dragons, but books like Eragon and Eldest are too much for him (I read those to him).
I would like to get something, perhaps, in a series that he can continue to read. Thanks! Asked by kallaloostx 59 months ago Similar questions: suggest books 10 year boy 4th grade fascinated Captain Underpants Arts > Books.

The American Library Association provides lots of guidance see: ala.org. Peter and the Starcatchers and the sequel Peter and the Shadow Thieves by Dave Barryare fast paced adventure reading (a sort of 'prequel' based on 'Peter Pan) aimed at this age set. It's full of humor that's appropriate for this age set.
Although it is fairly lengthy...but have you considered 'books on tape' for giving him a little independence with novels he may still be 'reaching' for reading wise at his age? James and the Giant Peach, the classic by Roald Dahl, is a great pick for an emergent reader. Bunnicula books by Deborag Howe, are immensely popular.
Alternately I suggest looking for books that center around topics he might show interest in at this age, skateboarding, sports, animals, etc. Sources: Opinion .
Superfudge! When I was younger I loved the Superfudge books by Judy Blume. And if he likes the fantasy twist maybe try some Roald Dahl (author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) or Madeleine L’Engle (excellent author, if a bit convoluted).
Terry Pratchett is one of my favourite authors and also has some excellent books ostensibly targeted at children (although adults will love them too). The Secrets of Droon series by Tony Abbot These books have lots of adventures in a magical world of Droon that is accessed by a secret passageway under the staricase of one of the main characters. The heroes are kids, so kids love these stories. There is lots of action and magic, plus a few cool pictures here and there in the books.
The books are fairly easy to read, but not "babyish", so your son would enjoy reading these, I am sure. InfamousShane's Recommendations Secrets of Droon Box Set (A Gift Set of Books 1-4) Amazon List Price: $15.96 Used from: $8.26 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 12 reviews) A great introduction to the world of Droon. Try some Bruce Coville He doesn’t have a specific central series, but he does have a slew of young adult fantasy and science fiction that are greatly entertaining and exceedingly light reads - perfect for a young man who’s a little too high energy for the more advanced chapter books yet. Specifically I would try the "My Teacher is an Alien" series, which are both fun and quick adventures and also infused with a wonderfully whimsical sense of humor - much like the Captain Underpants series. I also recommend the "Magic Shop" Series (although this is less a series than a set of similarly structured stories), which is similarly light hearted but with a fantasy rather than sci-fi bent.
I absolutely loved Bruce Coville at your son's age, and although I outgrew it and moved on to other series before too long, they've always held a special place in my heart as one of the first sets of books that taught me how engrossing and fascinating reading can be. Choose Your Own Adventure When I was that age, I devoured the Time Machine choose-your-own-adventure books. I think it’s the perfect gimmick for addressing the attention span problem, because it keeps the reader involved. I don’t think these books I read are still in print, but I bet they’re all over amazon and ebay as cheap used books.
One I remember most clearly was the hunt for dinosaurs one in which you jump around different time periods looking for a specific feathered dinosaur. I bet a year or two reading books like this will prepare him to tackle the "more difficult" fantasy novels he’ll be interested in. Take a look at these modern choose-your-own-adventure books (a boxed set of them is just below).
I haven’t read them, but they’re probably pretty good. I am trying to find childrens books to teach Syntax and Semantics. I need a level of at least 1st -4th grade.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
