Can eating a high amount of sugar (or sugary foods) make you hyperactive?

I believe some sugary foods can bring on hyperactivity. I don't eat too many myself but occasionally when mountain biking we'll munch on a few Haribo to give us a bit of a sugar rush to keep us going.

Yes, just ask my Mother. My whole childhood I wasn't allowed high-sugar foods, because I was hyper when consumed.

Apparently this is a myth or so several studies suggest. It’s all in the mind it seems - and that’s us parents’ minds - one study told a group of mothers their kids had had a sugary drink and another group that theirs had had a sugarless drink. The drinks were in fact all sugarless, but the mothers who’d been told their kids had had sugar rated them more hyper afterwards.

But it does make you feel sick, give you headaches, rot your teeth … :-)It also, as itsmonkeyboy says, gives you a short burst of energy because the glucose goes more rapidly into your bloodstream - but this energy rapidly lost because the body produces more insulin to compensate.(I’m not sure if links are allowed in answers, but if you type 'sugar high a myth' into google you’ll find some reports on the various studies. ).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
