In order to obtain a scholarship at an SEC school such as LSU you have to be pretty talented in the football arena. There is much weight put in the success of the football program at this school making the program extremely competitive. These schools are generally more academically focused before anything else, and they give out a lot of academic scholarships, so they do not have to give out athletic scholarships. While Harvard is a Division 1 school, it is unlikely that you will receive a full scholarship. Harvard and other Ivy League schools such as Yale, Cornell, Brown, Princeton and a few others give their high dollar scholarships to students who are academic achievers more so than those that are athletic achievers. While you may get some partial funds because you play football (or one of the many other sports) and are talented, you will need to be academically superior as well to get a full scholarship.
