Read your lease regarding pest control. Keep in mind that cockroaches move from one unit to the next so even though your place is clean, your neighbor's might not be. Hence you get roaches when their unit is treated.
That is not a valid reason to break your lease. Break ins and such are also not reasons to break your lease. The landlord does not have control over such activities.
Report all problems to the police. The toilet is definitely something that should have been taken care of long ago. Send a written request for a new toilet.
List in chronological order and in detail the problems & the attempt to repair. The balcony could be an item for concern. Again, send a request in writing to have he balcony inspected by a professional & express your concern.
That could be a huge safety issue for them and you.
So they are sending pest control, which is their job. You can't break it for that. Your BF flushed a bunch of crap down the toilet and then it got clogged?
Who would have thunk? Then they have come and attempted to fix the toilet, which is their job. You can't break it for that.
"My boyfriend noticed that the balcony above us has chipped concrete and has a rod hanging from it that supports the balcony. This is totally unsafe and this could eventually lead to a fatal problem if not taken seriously." - Really? Is your boyfriend a structural engineer?
Didn't think so. The rod is called rebar. It doesn't actually support anything.
You can go to court if you want, but "because we want a nicer apartment" isn't a reason to break your lease.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
