Going to a community college is not weird. I'm a freshmen at community college in my second semester. At first, I didn't want to go because I wanted to go straight to a University too since I didn't get into any of my choices.
You can raise your GPA up! But once you get the feel for it you won't notice it. I was embarrassed to say that I was going to a CC when my history teacher in my Senior year asked me because they whole class had wanted to know where everyone is going.
But near the end of the year I found out only a few of my friends were going and one of my friends who is really smart got accepted into her Dream school(only one she applied too) but she couldn't go because it was too expensive. However, the only reason you feel that way is because people make a big deal about how only slackers go too CC and that's NOT TRUE! Many people go to CC for different reasons.
I happen to go because I wanted to raise my GPA up higher. It was a low B average. I recently changed my major.
It does take a while. But don't worry. You have to ignore those people who say's but CC is where slackers go.
One of my ex-friends who I stopped talking to always threw the fact that I went to CC in my face as if I didn't have good grades or took AP/Honors classes in H.S. Where she only took maybe 1 of 1 each. She told me her problems. So, she didn't have the right too tell me I was a lazy student.
Anyways, IGNORE THOSE PEOPLE! Plus, You'll have an advantage of getting into a better college easier. Also, Please TAKE ASSOCIATES OF ARTS DEGREE!
For your general education classes! DON'T PICK A SPECIFIC MAJOR IT WILL SCREW YOU OVER! So, yeah.
It's not weird at all.
NOT AT ALL! I know how you feel. I sort of did the same thing.
I went to the commuter school of the university I wanted to go to, my freshman year, then transferred to their campus, after that. If anything, starting out at community college is incredibly smart. It will save you a TON of money, and your 30-year-old self will thank you for it (right about the same time that your friends' 30-year-old selves will be wondering why they didn't start out at community college, and save some money, like you did).
College is exorbitantly expensive, these days, and it has become a "normal" and accepted practice in our culture for our young adults to enter the working world already weighed down by a boat-load of debt, which is really not smart or sustainable. The only tough thing, which I will be upfront about, is the social part. A lot of people really make great friendships from the very beginning.
Don't worry too much about that, though, because if you are social enough, you will meet plenty of new friends, all through college. Aside from that, just make sure you do ONE THING, now. If you have a university in mind that you would like to eventually transfer to, to finish out college, make sure you'll be able to transfer the credits from the community college!
Some colleges won't let you transfer credits from some community colleges, so it's always good to check whether they will accept them. That will be good to know, ahead of time! At the end of the day, don't look to others' actions as the standard.
You should pave your own way. I know it's easy to say that, but I now look back and really wonder why I got so caught up in what other people were doing and what other people might think. There are a lot of times in my life where I missed out on opportunities, because I also felt like it was the "weird" thing to do, and I really regret that.
Just own it and be you. You're the only one who can.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
