In my opinion, any kind of commercial diving is the second most dangerous job out there, whether you're welding or doing something else. The first most dangerous job being commercial fishing. I don't know of any exact statistics.
Partly that's because it's offshore so OSHA has a harder time keeping tabs on it, legally. But the danger aside, it's just not a very pleasant job. It's usually cold, constantly wet, incredibly cramped conditions, remedial or poor visibility most of the time.
Living away from home and family for weeks or months just to earn a paycheck. When it isn't dangerous or exhausting it's plain tedious. And it takes several years to get qualified and certified to do it.
Not worth the money in my opinion, but some people seem to not mind.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
