Can I still become a professional dancer?

Im 17 and planning on being a professional dancer. I think that if you work really hard, your dedicated and motivation you may have a chance. You need to be taking several classes a week including ballet and jazz as these are the styles you would be assessed on if you want to audition for a Performing arts college after sixth form.

You need to build on your flexiblity and stretgh each night working on both for a minimum of half an hour each. To become a dance teacher in ISTD you will need to take your DDI and DDE examinations, this will then enable you to teach ISTD. However if you wanted to teach at a secondary school you need to go to Uni and get a degree.

After sixth form you could audition for a foudation course at a Dance college, which is a year of training you and preparing you for auditions for three year courses, which is what I plan to do. Most of the best Dance colleges are in London such as: Urdang, Performers, Birds, Laines, Millenium, Stella Mann and the London Studio Centre. You also have the ones mainly based on acting and singing which are: Arts Ed, Italia Conti and Mountview.

The colleges all cost on average £9,000 per year and you can not get a student loan, scholaships are available for the best of the best. I suggest you research all of these colleges maybe go to some open days. You could also apply to their short courses such as the summer school or easter school so you get an idea them it will also help you alot.

I know that Urdang do a pre audition course which I am doing in the summer :) If you cant afford dance college there a several Uni's that you could go to, however they are mainly contemporary based: Roehampton Middlesex -Also offer Jazz LIPA - Offer more styles and musical theatre Kingston UEL - Also offer Urban Chickester Falmouth - best if you want to be in choreography.

GCSE dance A-level dance Dance courses Lots of dance exams of different types Experience Acting Tallent and the skills Learn the names of steps off-by-heart Flexibility A passion for it xx.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
