They certainly have a chance if they can get their message across to the voters and if the voters can see the candidates. And their local policies as "one of their own" and not just another charter member of the Washington scene.

Of course the problems moderate democrats face in the midterms, in some states, are enormous. President Obama, whether deserved or not , has become the focus of many dissatisfied voters. He is being blamed for many things that are wrong in the country.To be fair he deserves some of the blame but certainly not all of it....but then his job description, necessarily, includes the first responsibility of a President which is .... "the buck stops here".

It does look like the democratic candidates are facing a daunting challenge this fall but one never knows. Two month can be a very long time in politics and while there may still time it is quickly running.

Point2make, I agree with your points, although the trend is for the party of the President to swing the opposite way in Gubernatorial elections, two years later. Republicans are capitalizing on this in Georgia with the "Roybama" advertisement targeted at Domcratic candidate Roy Barnes, who was a Georgia Governor in the 1990's when the state had budget surpluses. I agree with your sentiments about Obama, and overall have a positive personal opinion of his administration.

Regardless of candidates, people tend to vote for parties, usually connected with the President and his approval ratings. It's a tough call, but Barnes will have to be especially mobile with his campaign to garner votes. I wish he would not take part in negative campaign advertising, however, because even if it is true it is shown to have a negative effect on voter turnout.
