The same reason you see the Confederate Flag on the Republican side. They are trying to figure out a way to become "politically correct" racist. They think they have the racist past of the Confederate flag hidden from the rest of the public.
They think this agenda they came up with called "The Lost Cause of the Confederacy" was effective enough in hiding the truth behind the Confederate flag, while they belligerently try to defend something they already know is a lie. Part of their tactics is to label minorities as racist to justify their own racism and make minorities claim of racism seem less legitimate. Still not working.
They feel comfortable yelling it because they know it's acceptable to make racist comments in the presense of other white men...They're very familiar with this language when no one else is around them this is how they talk...Donald Trump didn't even flinch. To white people especially white men hearing racist language is like straight people hearing homophobic comments...They're use to hearing it behind close doors when the group they're talking about isn't around but at the same time some of them will still claim racism doesn't exist. Forked tongues.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
