The answer to this question is yes, no, and maybe. It all depends upon the camera and lens configuration. It is a complex answer to a simple question because Nikon has so many different generations of cameras and lenses out there.
What Nikon camera model does your mother want to couple with what kind of Nikkor lens? No digital cameras and few film cameras are compatible with Nikon pre-AI lenses. (Manual focus lenses mader from 1959 to before 1977).
Most Nikon digital cameras can use AI, AI-S and E series lenses though depending upon which camera body you are using, you will likely lose some lens functions (can only use in A or M modes, lose the ability for 3D matrix metering or the exposure meter will not operate and you will have to use an external meter or guess at correct exposure). Older film body lenses that have an internal CPU may work with digital cameras, (AF, AF-I, AF-S, G, and VR) though the AF lenses (introduced in 1986) may not function fully (no 3D Matrix Metering or no distance informatin through the lens for TTL flash) with some digital bodies. I do use older lenses with my D80 because I think the optics are superior on some of my older lenses.
I especially like an old manual 50mm micro lens and I don't mind that I have to function manually or shoot in manual mode because that is my preference anyway. Nikon has a newer version of that lens but I wouldn't buy it, even if the prices was low because I like my old, heavy, metal bodied lens with great optics. If you are interested in learning which Nikkor lenses work with which Nikon bodies (both film and digital) check out the link below in the source box for a handy, if not complex chart.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
