The human ear is formed out of cartilage, which is a flexible tissue that is found throughout the body. So, no it is not bone; also, due to cartilage's soft durability getting it pierced usually does not hurt but it varies by person.
There are no bones in your ears your ears are just made from cartilage and skin. .... if you get your ear lobe ( most common place ) pierced then it will not go through your ear cartilage but if you get the top of your ears, or inside your ears then yes it will go through cartilage which is a little more painful but not to bad. Just go to a reputable piercer and they can answer any questions you have.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
