Can you carry a book of matches in your checked luggage on airliners?

I'm flying to D.C. tommorrow from Gulfport and haven't flown since 2005. I'm a smoker and was wondering was the restrictions on matches and lighters on airliners now? I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
