The state laws dealing with self-defense are numerous and varied. They are generally covered in ORS 161.205 through 161.255. ORS 161.205 Use of Physical Force Generally, Subsection (5) reads, "A person may use physical force upon another person in self-defense or in defending a third person, in defending property, in making an arrest or in preventing an escape, as hereafter prescribed in chapter 743, Oregon Laws 1971."
The subsections that follow further delineate the parameters of allowed use of force. A lot of what you are allowed to do in self-defense is going to be based upon the circumstances at the time and what was reasonable under that situation. For instance, did you have the opportunity to flee to safety or lock yourself somewhere safe?
You may not get a blanket pass for shooting an intruder if you had the chance to flee and call the police. It will boil down to what options were available and the "common sense" test of what the normal and reasonable person would have done at the time.).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
